Jocelyn Hockaday

Curator of The Hockaday Impact | Multimedia Journalist | Activist

Hi everyone! I am Jocelyn - I am a multimedia journalist, activist, and CEO of The Hockaday Impact. Welcome to my site where you can find all my personal work, community engagement, and discover the essence of The Hockaday Impact.

Here’s more about me:

I am currently a rising senior at Temple University where I major in Journalism, and work as a freelance writer for different student media at Temple University and other outside entities. Although I am a multimedia journalist ranging in all mediums, my concentration is to publish data driven stories through videography. I’m a member of the National Council of Negro Women, the Temple Association of Black Journalists, and INROADS intern. A few hobbies of mine other than community work, activism, and writing include: health/wellness, reading, sports, the outdoors, live music events, plant care, and film (HUGE anime fan!).

Originally from Hagerstown, MD, my passion for writing began in childhood, when I used stories and poetry to express how I saw and felt the world. That passion deepened in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd, a pivotal moment that pushed me toward activism and community engagement as tools for change.

I’m passionate about creative storytelling in all its forms, and my goal is to create lasting, impactful change through ethical and unbiased multimedia reporting. I’m committed to uplifting the voices of underserved communities, increasing representation in media, and dismantling harmful stereotypes and misinformation.

If there is anything that deem’s un-newsworthy, inaccurate, or unethical on my site, please contact me immediately and express your thoughts.
